Meet Little Leaves Co-Founders Drs. Carlos and Carley Gomez-Meade
Becoming both physicians and parents helped us realize the need and importance for everyday sun protective clothing for our family. We searched for casual and affordable clothing designed to block harmful ultraviolet radiation, but we quickly learned that most of the sun protective clothing available was swimwear only - our family gets a lot more sunshine beyond the swimming pool!
We also learned that other families share the same need. So we created Little Leaves Clothing Company with designs that looked great, and felt amazingly comfortable. With our experience in skin health and children, we designed apparel that is hypoallergenic and chemical free - ideal for sensitive skin such as eczema, has all natural ultraviolet protection (UPF) of 50+, which blocks 98% of the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays!
Dr. Carlos Gomez-Meade
Born and raised in Brownsville, Texas, Carlos went on to attend the University of Notre Dame. While at college he volunteered as a Spanish translator in a Pediatric Oncology unit and studied abroad in Spain. After being away from Texas for four years he decided to return and attend the University of North Texas Health Science Center/ Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. After medical school he completed a Family Medicine residency then a Dermatology residency in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He then pursued specialized training in cutaneous oncology and reconstructive surgery for the treatment of skin cancers.
Dr. Carley Gomez-Meade
A native Texan raised in Denton, Carley attended the University of North Texas. As a junior in college she was accepted into a combined bachelor/medical program at the University of North Texas Health Science Center/ Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she met Carlos. After medical school Carlos and Carley married and moved to Florida. Carley completed her residency training in Pediatrics then fellowship training in Pediatric Endocrinology. In addition to being a mom and running Little Leaves Clothing Company, she is also an active board member of the Texas Diabetes Council.
