ABOUT OUR FABRICS
Most of our fabric is made from 67.5% bamboo fibers. Some of our fabrics are triple-brushed, super soft 92% Polyester and 8% Spandex. Lastly, swimsuits are made from recycled plastic bottles, 83% Repreve Recycled Polyester 17% Spandex.
Our sun protection comes from the construction of the fabric: a proprietary blend of bamboo, cotton and spandex that provides the best quality sun protection and lightweight comfort. Bamboo is an extremely soft fabric that is preferred for sensitive or eczema-prone skin.

SCIENTIFIC TESTING
Our fabric has been independently tested for ultraviolet protection by the standard testing for sun protective clothing AATCC Test Method 183 (Association of Textile, Apparel & Materials Professionals), and was given the highest rating: Ultraviolet Protection Factor 50+. The AATCC Test Method 183 is the standard method used to measure ultaviolet radiation transmitted through fabric as determined by spectrophotometery. Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) rating for clothing is similar to the SPF rating for sunscreen.
UPF indicates:
- The fabric’s effectiveness at blocking ultraviolet radiation that causes sun burns, skin damage and skin cancer.
- A rating of 50 means that over 98% of ultraviolet radiation is blocked.
- A white cotton T-shirt has a UPF rating around 5-10.
Sun protection of fabric is determined by the weave, color and weight. Increased sun protection is found in fabrics that are a tighter weave, darker color or heavier weight. However, during the summer a lighter color and weight are preferred. That’s why we developed a fabric that provides the highest UPF that is ultra lightweight and breathable without the use of chemicals.
